Job description, responsibilities and duties
Purpose of the job:
To organize buying products, raw materials, supplies, capital equipment and services used by the company. To evaluate suppliers, negotiate contracts, review product quality, and supervise purchasing agents and buyers.
Key responsibilities:
• Leadership of company procurement and procurement staffs;
• Developing c2i procurement strategy;
• Set up main objectives and tasks of procurement team;
• Co-ordination and communication of procurement activities with and to other functions and departments;
• Evaluating bids and making recommendations based on commercial and technical factors;
• Identifying potential suppliers, visiting existing suppliers, and building and maintaining good relationships with them;
• Optimization of costs based on Continuous Improvement Process (CIP projects);
• Forecasting levels of demand for products and services to meet the business needs and keeping a constant check on stock levels, minimise inventory costs;
• Conducting research to ascertain the best products and suppliers in terms of best value, delivery schedules and quality;
• Liaising between suppliers, manufacturers, relevant internal departments and customers;
• Negotiating and agreeing contracts and monitoring their progress, checking the quality of service provided;
• Processing payments and invoices of purchased goods;
• Forecasting price trends and their impact on future activities;
• Producing reports and statistics using computer software;
• Development, training and supervising the work of other members of staff;
• Oversee inspection (examination) of incoming materials, ensuring that they meet requirements, both aerospace + automotive
• Conduct periodic management review meetings, submit detailed reports from monthly KPI´s to appropriate executives;
• Support project team with RFQ costs data;
• Ensure adherence to health and safety and environmental guidelines as well as legal obligations;
