Are you passionate about localization and having a direct impact to thousands, maybe even millions of customers? Amazon Kindle is seeking a Russian Localization Lead to join a very dynamic international team. In this role you will work closely with other editors, program managers, business owners, engineers and testers to deliver best in class products and services experience for our Russian customers.
The successful candidate will be self-directed, yet equally comfortable contributing within a global team environment. Strong interpersonal skills, time management, and attention to detail are required. You must have demonstrated experience in the technology field, and a proven background in Russian localization and technical editing. In this role you will own the linguistic quality for Russian localized products, services and customer communications on behalf of Kindle. You will be part of a culturally dynamic team working cross-functionally with technical and non-technical stakeholders within the organization to collaborate and contribute to global projects as they relate to localization for the Russian market. PLEASE NOTE: This position can be based in either Cape Town, South Africa or Bratislava, Slovakia.
Specific responsibilities will include:
· Editing and translating directly in localization tools
· Creating and maintaining glossaries, style guides, and translation memories
· Working with localization PMs, localization vendors and quality assurance engineers to drive linguistic, terminology, and style issues to resolution
· Research legal, technical and business phraseology pertinent to assigned projects.
· Engaging with corporate and legal partner teams to understand and address Russian localization needs
· Planning and executing linguistic quality assurance tasks

Basic Qualifications
· Fluency in Russian and English, both written and verbal.
· 5+ years of demonstrated English to Russian software, web-based and customer document localization and editing experience
· Demonstrated and hands-on technical experience with localization and terminology platforms and tools (E.g. WorldServer, Trados Studio etc.)
· Degree in linguistics, translation, technical communications, writing and/or equivalent experience
· Basic familiarity with web technologies and html is highly desirable.
· Ability to understand complex problems, applications, and system concepts
· Interest in and flexibility to work and learn in a fast-paced environment
Ability to deal with ambiguity, multitask, and deliver high quality results under tight timelines
Preferred Qualifications
· Fluency in at least one additional language (preference for: French, Italian, Spanish, German, Dutch, Brazilian Portuguese, Chinese, and Japanese).
· Solid understanding of software product development lifecycle.
· Quality Assurance experience a plus
· Intermediate HTML/XML skills
· Familiarity with Kindle products and services
· Some SQL and business analytics experience
· Ability to work cross-functionally with technical and non-technical teams across the organization and the desire to contribute and grow in a dynamic team.
· Project Management experience
· Strong problem-solving, project management skills, and organizational skills
·Hands-on experience with scripting programming languages such as ruby and python.
· Fluency in Russian and English, both written and verbal.
