Job description, responsibilities and duties

Leadership and management:
- responsible for the successful leadership and management of the organization's staff, programs, expansion, and execution of its mission
- provide leadership in developing program, operational and financial plans according to the strategic direction set by the Board of Directors
- identify and evaluate the risks to the organization's operation, recommend and implement measures to control it
- represent the organization and its activities internally as well as externally to enhance its profile to stakeholders, partners and general public
- act as a spokesperson for the organization
- oversee the planning, implementation, execution and evaluation of flagship projects (TATRA SUMMIT, National Convention, Quartetorium)
- have good overview of EU and economic matters
- oversee the efficient and effective day-to-day operation of the organization and ensure that the Board is kept fully informed on the condition of the organization

Operational and strategic planning:
- cooperate with the Board of Directors in developing a vision and long-range strategic plan to guide the organization
- assure that the strategy achieves mission of the organization, and ensure its consistent progress (quality management)
- ensure that the programs of the organization contribute to the mission of the Strategy Council
- review existing goals of the organization on an annual basis and recommend changes

Financial planning and fundraising:
- ensure that adequate funds are available to permit the organization activities to achieve the strategic goals
- identify funding opportunities, oversee the development of fundraising timelines and assure that the organization operates within budget guidelines
- communicate with potential partners and establish relationships with the funders (relationship building)

External relations and advocacy:
- establish and maintain good working relationships and collaborative arrangements with stakeholders, partners and other organizations to help achieve the goals of the organization
- communicate with stakeholders to keep them informed of the work of the organization

Brief description of the company

The Center for European Affairs (CEA) is an independent civic association, carrying out its activities in the spirit of European cooperation, democratic principles and values.
The Center primarily focuses on economic-political affairs, strategic EU policies and notable Slovak positions within the process of decision-making and agenda setting. The Center aims to shape the debate by providing an in-depth understanding of a complex subject and producing objective and thorough analysis.
The overall aim of the CEA is to present a credible Slovak platform for the European policy shaping, which will be of utmost importance on the path toward the Slovak EU Presidency in 2016.
