Job description, responsibilities and duties

Functions:

As a Mechanical Engineer in the Machining & Maintenance Section, you will:

Contribute to the whole production process of product design, materials and parts, programming and tooling on CNC machining centres, assembly methods.

Develop machining and manufacturing methods for fabrication of high-precision prototypes and components for accelerators and experimental facilities.

Work closely with a team of designers and Fabrication Methods engineers on a variety of tasks.

Prepare production schedules and estimate costs, maintain and develop facilities, use and improve documentation.

Provide engineering support to fabrication facilities.

Take an active role in multidisciplinary projects.

Work closely with ISO coordinating team to implement, maintain and improve quality procedures and ISO 9001 requirements.

Qualification required

Master's Degree in the field of Mechanical Engineering with specific emphasis on machining (or equivalent).


The experience required for this post is:

Demonstrated experience as a Mechanical Engineer in a Manufacturing Machining Engineering Environment.
A solid scientific understanding as well as hands-on direct, practical experience are required.
Experience in leading a team would be an advantage.


The technical competencies required for this post are:

Use of numerical control and conventional machine tools: direct knowledge and experience working with various manufacturing techniques.
Definition of manufacturing method, process, preparation, planning, drawing, and control: direct experience of implementing high precision machining.
Definition of manufacturing method, process, preparation, planning, drawing, and control.
3D and 2D technical drawing: excellent understanding, interpreting and analysing analysis of mechanical drawing requirements.
Knowledge metallic materials processing: stainless steel, aluminium and copper alloys.
