Job description, responsibilities and duties

The Network Operating Center System Administrator of Operating Systems will be assigned to 24x7 on site team working on shift base. In this role you will be responsible for proactive monitoring of systems and in time resolution of Incidents and Service Requests including communication to customers and interaction with internal sub-departments of Group IT Operations. You will also be responsible for providing advanced technical support for current and future configuration of Operating Systems and related infrastructure.

- Troubleshoot any HW or Operating System related issues.
- Based on troubleshooting orchestrate the optimal resolution.
- Provide workarounds to issues where ever possible to assure the customer business is unaffected.
- Take full end-to-end responsibility for assuring permanent correct fixed for issues.
- Minimize activities with a negative impact on operating environment availability, schedule any necessary system outages with appropriate key account manager in advance.
- Work with third party support centres on resolving any issues or errors in the production environment.
- Be responsible for the deployment of infrastructure changes and patches according to IT Operations Department standards.
- Proactively monitore all IT Operation subsystems including servers, storage and infrastructure ensuring optimal utilization of systems.
- Educate younger colleagues on system administration.
- Help with design and organization of internal documentation.
- Create and maintain operations documentation to reflect the current operating environment.
- Document all changes done on production environment into operations activity log in-time and trouble ticketing system.

Secondary with school-leaving examination
Follow-up/Higher Professional Education
University education (Bachelor's degree)
University education (Master's degree)
Postgraduate (Doctorate)

Language skills

English - Upper intermediate (B2)

Personality requirements and skills

If you have...
- Complete high school education or higher level.
- Experience in an HP-UX, Red Hat Enterprise Linux or VMware administration.
- Experience with Shell scripting and programming.
- Knowledge of High Availability architecture design - redundancy, SPOF, ...
- Orientation in High Availability technologies - HP ServiceGuard, Red Hat Cluster.
- 2+ years Centralized tape backup technologies and principles - LTO library, HP DataProtector.
- 3+ years System monitoring and reporting tools - Nagios, HP OpenView, CA.
- Experience with Storage management - LVM, VxVM, multipathing.
- Good understanding of IT operations processes and practices.
- English spoken and written.
- Result oriented, strong drive and organizational skills.
- Independent worker and excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Sense of ownership.

Is there more you know...?
- Experienced in 24x7 environment.
- Experienced in Storage Area Network and centralised storage architecture - Brocade SAN switches.
- Experienced with disk arrays - HP StorageWorks XP, EVA, Hitachi storage.
- Experienced with windows server administration.
- Experienced Veritas Cluster Volume Manager, Veritas Cluster File System.
- Knowledge/experience/certification with ITIL.
