Senior Press Officer - Location Vienna

The department "Group External Communications" is responsible for corporate and financial PR, as well as looking after the Group’s reputation in Austria, CEE and internationally.

Group External Communications is part of Group Communications of Erste Group Bank AG, which reports directly to the CEO of Erste Group. Other Group Communications departments include Internal Communications and Community Affairs and Sponsoring.

YOU:
  • develop, implement, monitor and evaluate communication plans for your own area of responsibility (with strong focus on SME and Retail business), in conjunction with the respective communication teams from CEE
  • ensure top-quality media management including: cultivating a network of media contacts, pro-actively pitching stories and interviews, handling a broad range of media enquiries, designing and managing press events
  • create compelling and innovative content that is tailored for fast-changing channels and formats, with a strong focus on digital
  • support and advise senior management on external reputation and strategic PR activities
  • get involved in running high-profile international campaigns integrated across multiple channels
  • identify opportunities and risks from political, social and business trends and developments and make proposals about the PR measures, resources and timing of deployment
  • act as an intermediary between Erste and communication agencies; brief and support the agencies
  • are a seasoned communications professional with minimum 5 years’ relevant experience in an international, fast-paced environment
  • have an excellent media relations track record across channels and geographies and demonstrate both strategic thinking and practical implementation skills
  • bring in preferably also experience in working with consumer brands, telecommunications and or technology companies and are plugged in to the latest trends in technology and innovation
  • possess a sound understanding of the CEE region and its connection with Austrian businesses
  • are able to act as a trusted advisor to management and display astuteness in briefing them on sensitive issues and balancing various stakeholder interests
  • are a professional who is switched on, creative and intellectually curious
  • are keen to join a team that is recognised in the industry for delivering top-notch work and spearheading some of the most effective and innovative approaches to communication
  • have an excellent command of German and English, other CEE languages would be an asset
