Job description, responsibilities and duties

The IT System Technician serves as member of first line support, is considered as a professional within the organization. As such, the IT System Technician provides team or technical supervision. The organization will depend on this person's expertise and experience in IT areas.

• The primary responsibility of the IT System Technician is internal or external customer service and relationship management, first line of support, desktop technology support and help desk, site support functions.
• Installs, maintains, administers and updates network systems; e.g. switches, printers, PC’s and ensures that all systems are operating properly.
• Provides training to users on new applications, technologies and equipment.
• Provides support for local applications and databases based on standard Microsoft-technologies e.g. time keeping, MES. Diagnoses computer systems and network hardware.
• Provides technical support for workstations and office applications as well as for shop floor systems e.g. label printers, scanners.
• Performs information systems administrative procedures and maintains documentation
• Closely work together with the regional and global IT service organization
• Enforces security guidelines to the users
• Works in virtual worldwide teams for infrastructure and application support
• Works under immediate supervision

University education (Bachelor's degree)
University education (Master's degree)
Postgraduate (Doctorate)

Personality requirements and skills

• Bachelor's degree and 1-3 years of experience in the relevant technical areas e.g. Microsoft OS and SQL DB, hardware standards, Cisco networks
• Knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within support and infrastructure.
• Familiar with the use of IT ticket systems
• Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions
• Fluent in English
