Job description, responsibilities and duties
The Product Manager is responsible for development of a product from its conception to its sale on the market. Develop a real product strategy relying on a market and competitive analysis, overseeing the commercial activities and coordinating the actions of the marketing plan.
Being Product Manager is a business communication and relationship. It is the heart of a strategy that embraces many stakeholders internal and external ( R&D, Sourcing, Production, Quality, Sales, Supply Chain ).
The job of product manager included four features: the study of the economic (or market research), the strategy of product development, product launch and management of the budget.
The study of the economic environment.
- Identify needs and consumer expectations.
- Provide business intelligence on the relevant market by the product.
- Collect information from internal stakeholders & external stakeholders.
- Define the specificity of the product market based on information collected.
Product Development Strategy
- Define a product and provide design services in connection with the operational & commercial, while respecting the economic and technical constraints set.
- Define a trade action plan: targets, product positioning in the market (in terms of price, image, etc..).
- Choice of distribution channel, definition of communication, creation of the pitch sale and packaging.
Product launch
- Coordination of all stakeholders: sales force, distributors, logistics, design, advertising, etc.
- Assist the sales force and give the axes of sales strategy.
- Monitor sales regularly to adjust the marketing strategy.
Budget Management
- Prepare budget.
- Control the budget to meet profit targets.
