US Direct Tax Compliance Analyst 

Job description
"The candidate will be responsible for preparing and completing the international portions of the IBM US consolidated federal return including, but not limited to, Forms 5471 & 8858, Subpart F income, Earnings & Profits, Foreign Tax Credit, Section 78 Gross-up and Section 905(c) adjustments, Foreign Personal Holding Company Income, Base Company Sales Income, Base Company Services Income and Investment in US Property for both forecasting and tax return reporting purposes.

As part of preparing the above forms and calculations, the candidate will be responsible for the following functions:

• Provide input to Global Tax related to the determination of US GAAP Legal Pretax Income for all applicable entities and import US GAAP financial information into tax software provided by Corporate Tax Headquarters (CHQ)
• Work with local country Accounting and Tax as the primary interface for all income tax compliance issues related to the US Federal Income Tax Return.
• Accurately analyzing and timely tracing and follow-up on all tax reports that local country tax and accounting are required to complete
• Assist in updating the International Tax Reporting package on an annual basis
• Provide CHQ Tax with the Earnings and Profits (“E&P”) adjustments. E&P is a US tax concept which converts the US GAAP Financial Income into an economic concept that measures the+A39 earnings available for dividend distribution to the US Shareholder. The individual will receive instruction from CHQ Tax in order to learn and understand the specific requirements related to this process.
• Assist to review and determine the amount of local distributable reserves a country is able to repatriate by working closely with the CHQ Tax Team in preparing estimates for the US tax return
• Determine whether there have been any changes to a prior year local income tax liability of an assigned legal entity as a result of an audit, filing of a final income tax return or for any other reason and work with CHQ Tax to properly account for such change.
• Maintain copies of all tax returns and receipts supporting the amount of income taxes being claimed for each legal entity.

The candidate is responsible for researching and writing technical memorandum on any area pertaining to the IBM Consolidated Tax Return including, but not limited to, Forms 5471 & 8858, Subpart F income, Foreign Tax Credit, Reportable Transactions and specifically, be able to assist in the preparation of all applicable Notices and Elections, Check-the-box Elections and so forth.

Required
• Bachelor's Degree
• At least 2 years experience in Federal and International Compliance
• At least 2 years experience in Domestic/international tax, accounting rules, IRC provisions, tax research
• Basic knowledge in Knowledge of Corptax, CorpIntl and Tax Stream
• Basic knowledge in Working knowledge of accounting rules, Internal Revenue Code provisions and tax research tools
• English: Fluent

Preferred
• Master's Degree in Accounting/Finance
• At least 4 years experience in Federal and International Compliance
• At least 3 years experience in Domestic/international tax, accounting rules, IRC provisions, tax research"
