Job description, responsibilities and duties

Tasks and responsibilities:

* Work with local operational managers and others to communicate company EHS policies, philosophy and requirements to the workforce;

* Deliver and/or Ensure EHS training is delivered to a high standard and at the right time;

* Monitor site activities and employee behaviour to ensure required company procedures and best practices are being implemented on site. Advise local management on any additional local regulation requirements;

* Ensure that all incidents and high potential near misses are reported, and effectively investigated by operational management by providing technical support and advice;

* Timely reporting of accurate site data on a monthly basis;

* Organization of trainings regarding Health and Safety topics;

* Analysing potential legal issues;

* Analysing accident data, oversee safety performance;

* Support international programs and projects regarding Health, Safety and Environmental topics.

Our client, Harsco Metals Czech Republic is now looking for the right person to fill the position of EHS Specialist in their production plant located in Ostrava, Czech Republic. The HSS department’s task is to act according to the business needs and focus on supporting the managers in improving the performance of people and organization as well as increasing the awareness, competence, and performance in health, safety and environmental issues.

Overall purpose of the role:

To provide independent, authoritative advice, support & assistance to the Line organization on the function of Health and Safety, to ensure the company meets its statutory obligations by implementing good practice to achieve high levels of Health and Safety management.

The role shall predominantly support the site manager locally.

University education (Bachelor's degree)
University education (Master's degree)
Postgraduate (Doctorate)

Language skills

Czech - Advanced (C1) or English - Advanced (C1)

Personality requirements and skills

The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications:

* Minimum 3 years of experience working as an EHS specialist in the environment of heavy industry, steel industry or production industry

* University degree, or equivalent work experience

* Certificates according to the Law No. 309/2006 Sb.

* Fluency in Czech and English

* Excellent communication skills

* Understanding the essential EU HSE legislation
