Unix Delivery Lead Engineer

JOB DESCRIPTION:

As a Unix/Linux Delivery Lead, you take over responsibility for the delivery of excellent Unix/Linux services towards the trade customers managed by your team.
The main goal is to minimize the amount of unplanned downtime in the customer's production environment and to achieve a high level of customer satisfaction. This includes the lead or participation in technical projects, consulting and development of standards in your area of expertise as well as the delivery of support services. Moreover the Delivery Lead has the responsibility for complex Unix/Linux environments, is responsible for all change management on UNIX and hardware level in these environments. He also is responsible for the optimization and proactive support. The Unix/Linux DL is responsible to work on Unix/Linux complex incidents, identify and solve 3rd level problems, keep contact to the customer, coordinator of data center, technician and network incident and implementation activities.
According to our service level agreements we commit to our customers short response times and to fix problems within a given timeframe.


RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Consultation, implementation (designing system solutions based), system management
- Creating system documentation
- Identification and solving of problems
- Coordination of support teams in order to ensure high availability, capacity and customer satisfaction
- Participating in rotating on call" duty with team members


REQUIREMENTS:

- 3-5 years of engineering and operational experience with Unix operating system installation, administration - HP-UX or Linux
- Experience with architecting solutions that integrate database, storage and UNIX technologies a plus
- Good understanding of high-availability environments: HA cluster knowledge, administration and troubleshooting experience required- Storage (EVA, XP, 3Par) and SAN skills would be a plus
- Project management skills. Ability to coordinate tasks with several people, teams, departments; Commitment to timelines and effort
- Excellent communication skills
- Cross-cultural team player. Used to working and collaborating in international environment, within large customer landscapes (numerous servers etc.)
- Ability to understand and explain technical concepts to a variety of technical and non-technical audiences
- Aptitude to learn new tools and technologies very quickly and adapt to changing project deliverables
- Significant systems programming and system administration experience in a production UNIX operating system environment
- Fluent in English
