Senior Systems Engineer

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Client Computing Systems Engineer is responsible for contributing to and defining the client computing environment while ensuring continued stability and compliance with global standards. This role is required to maintain an understanding of business requirements and how they drive the technology selection process. Working with Global Infrastructure Architecture, they research and evaluate new technology and make product recommendations.

Leveraging these technologies, it is the Systems Engineer’s responsibility to design, develop, and implement client computing solutions and services that meet the business requirements. Systems Engineers are responsible for the maintenance and continuous improvement for the entire lifecycle of the solutions and services they engineer.

The Systems Engineer is on the forefront of multiple client computing initiatives where they must interact with a diverse technical staff that spans multiple business units and corporate Global Infrastructure. They must establish confidence and trust with these individuals to ensure the greatest chance of success in these projects.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Ensures compliance with, and the maintenance of, the global client computing environment and related standards, including hardware, operating systems, and software configurations for unified communications, anti-virus, remote access, remote control, web browser, and system management tools including security, PC lifecycle management and backup/recovery
- Establishes and maintains virtual desktop solutions using Med-V, VMWare View, VMWare Workstation, and a variety of similar technologies
- Perform problem management activities and root cause analysis of problems impacting the client computing environment
- Acts as an internal consultant to business unit and Infrastructure I/T staff on any and all projects that may require additional computing resources or changes to current computing infrastructure elements
- Design and develop innovative solutions and services leveraging available technologies to ensure business requirements are met
- Participates in and supports pilot projects to evaluate client computing technologies
- Participates in and supports the implementation of technology projects and facilitates the transition of services and support to the appropriate teams
- Stays current on all regional application and infrastructure projects to maintain global standards and provide global continuity among regional infrastructure personnel


REQUIREMENTS:

- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related discipline or equivalent
- 5 years of IT related experience with technical services for hardware, operating system image development and deployment, and production support of the areas of responsibility listed above
- With a minimum of 3 years’ experience with Microsoft operating systems through Windows 8
- Strong scripting capabilities particularly with PowerShell and VBScript
- Proficient in Active Directory with specific expertise in group policy
- Demonstrable experience with MS Service Manager, Orchestrator, SCCM 2012, Active Directory, Windows through 8.1, .NET, and Operating System Deployment experience using Microsoft technologies/methodologies
- Proficient time management and reporting capabilities
- ITIL v3Foundations Certificate
- OS/applications: Microsoft Project and Office, Lotus Notes, Altiris, Tivoli TSM, PIM synchronization and connectivity applications, and Mobile device security and management applications
- Knowledge of SQL is a plus
