Information about the position
Job description, responsibilities and duties
KEY ROLES:
*Maintain responsibility for overall leadership and management of Research and Development activities with an emphasis on product design for both our chemical and mechanical business areas.
*Manage projects to support product development in accordance with agreed upon budgets and timelines.
*Work closely with Innovation Platform and Sales teams to enhance current products and / or develop new products for introduction into the marketplace.
*Assess and prioritise the Company's Research and Development objectives to take advance of market opportunities and emerging technologies.
*Manage cross functional project teams in development of products.
*Provide leadership selecting core technologies for new products and to implement improvements to existing products.
*Manage, implement, and present results from product revisions (mechanical or chemical) and other projects for successful cost savings to maintain competitiveness and profitability.
*Manage working partnerships with available internal and external resources for product concept, product development, prototype creation, pilot manufacturing and testing.
*Develop relationships with external companies to partner in developing new products.
*Ensure that Research and Development activities are performed to relevant governing standards and regulatory requirements including design and control procedures.
*Establish and maintain the department budget(s).
*Provide guidance and service as a role model to team members and other staff.
*To effectively lead, manage and develop the Research & Development team of Chemists and Mechanical / Design Engineers.
*Develop team members through, coaching and mentoring.
*Maintain an open channel of communications among all departments and personnel to ensure consistent dialogue, foster initiative, reduce attrition, and maintain engagement.
*Ensure adherence with all compliance standards and that the team operate with integrity at all times.
*Ensure adherence to NCH Europe's health and safety standards, to protect the wellbeing of all NCH Europe Agents and Employees.
*Adhere to and drive NCH Europe's core values.

WE REQUEST:
*An innovative leader with experience managing a chemical research and development team, with experience of innovative dosing technology will be advantageous.
*Broad engineering skills gained through working with multiple / varied technologies.
*Solid understanding of both mechanical and electrical / electronic engineering in order to facilitate the development of a concept
*Experience of managing a team of design and development engineers, and ensuring they work collaboratively to turn concepts into a marketable proposition.
*Minimum of 10 years of industry experience with a proven track record of successful product development within a regulated product development environment is preferred.
*Minimum of 5 years of management experience with multiple direct reports is preferred.
*The ability to take customer needs and develop these in conjunction with Marketing and Sales functions, to deliver concepts which revolutionise the market / customer operations.
*A record of developing commercialized products for volume production is required.
*Experience working in a multidisciplinary team setting bringing products from conception through market release and beyond.
*Demonstrable experience of people-management, leadership and both written and verbal communication skills developed in this capacity.
*Proven track record of new product launch, creative thinking and consistent delivery of strategic goals.
*Ability to work independently, prioritize responsibly, supervise and motivate subordinates and to work well with them and others.
*Demonstrable excellent interpersonal skills collaborating with co-workers and clients.
*Comfortable with public speaking and leading meetings with internal and external customers.
*Familiarity with specific markets area, e.g. lubrication, water treatment, waste water.
*Excellent understanding of chemistry related local and European legislation.
*Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite applications.
*Fluency in written and spoken English.
*Written and spoken fluency in another language desirable but not essential.
*Degree in Engineering.
*Post graduate qualification in engineering.
*Must possess a current full driving licence.
