Information about the position

Job description, responsibilities and duties

*Working with infrastructure, development teams and users to plan and implement development and test environment provision.
*Managing the environment request process using standard process and templates.
*Monitoring the available resources (disc, cpu, memory, servers etc), and performing housekeeping to maintain optimal operation of the platform.
*Managing small scale project streams (e.g. infrastructure and application patch upgrades).
*Automation of daily environment tasks (e.g. transfer and load of application and database from live environment) using standard scheduling tools (UC4)
*Carrying out the weekly code packaging and release cycle using in-house tools and clearcase + TFS SCCS.
*Environment problem investigation and resolution.
*Maintaining appropriate technical skill set to enable best of breed solutions
*Following project governance requirements in terms of process and documentation

*Proficient in Unix (solaris), and related technologies (e.g. Samba / NFS)
*Experience with Perl + unix shell scripting
*Sybase operating environment + SQL.
*Proficient in full suite of office tools (particularly XL)
*Understanding of configuration control and experience of configuration control products e.g. clearcase)
*Fluent English
* Self-motivated, pro-active, good communication skills
