Job description, responsibilities and duties
Responsibilities
- As a Systems Service Engineer you will be responsible for supporting customer lab and production network upgrades of Networks’ VoIP switching software and applications, as well as other various services requested by the customer. Specific tasks include but are not limited to:
- Executing upgrades in labs using customer configuration.
- Executing upgrade in Customer lab and production networks.
- Trouble-shooting issues that are encountered as part of the upgrade.
- Customer specific documentation of the upgrade process.
- Research on customer requested services such as migration from old to new platforms, consolidation of existing platforms, migration from another vendor to our elements.
- Communicate effectively, clearly and concisely (both written and verbal) with management, customers and peers.
- Be able to demonstrate an ability to build and maintain technical knowledge and skills.
- Be very flexible with working hours on occasion in order to accommodate customer maintenance windows and customer schedule.

- Our client is offering a great opportunity for an experienced Services - Systems Engineer, responsible for performing upgrades/migrations on Voice over IP ( VoIP) based Networks as well as other technical services required by the customer.
- The position is located in central Prague, Czech Republic and the role would suit a candidate with experience in technical deployment and integration, with a solid technical background in telecommunications, including: VoIP and TDM protocols, networking and Linux/Unix or related. We also require excellent customer skills and a willingness to travel occasionally.
Experience/Skills/Qualifications
- Excellent communication and organisational skills, and possess the ability to interface with the client customers and third party vendors.
- Provide both design and implementation expertise for multiple simultaneous projects.
- Extensive knowledge and experience in IP routing and Network Infrastructure design.
- Extensive knowledge in Unix/Linux at CLI level are fundamental requirements.
- Extensive knowledge of Network Protocols: Ethernet (802.1q, 802.3ad, etc) and IP routing (RIP, BGP, OSPF, ISIS).
- Firewalls, VPNs, ACLs, SSL, DNS.
- Experience with telephony networking protocols MGCP, RTP, H323 and SIP as well as SS7 and ISDN.
- Knowledge of telecommunications transmission standards including: T1/E1, T3/E3, and SONET/SDH.
- Experience in network (IP and Telco) design, data, access, performance, scalability, security, reliability and fault tolerance.
- Strong analytical and communication skills, and experience of holding key roles on multiple system development project teams with a proven history of delivering high quality work.
- Experience with large-scale telephony software architecture and implementation is a plus.
- Shell scripting (Perl) and process automation knowledge a plus.
- Mysql and/or Oracle experience is a benefit.
- Degree in Engineering or related field.
- Travel: Less than 20% (as needed to customer locations).
