Job description, responsibilities and duties
The commodity buyer is responsible for deploying the commodity strategy for its assigned commodities. The role of the Commodity Buyer is to manage relationship / negotiation with suppliers, pilot the utilization of supplier panel in programs and series production during sourcing, and ensure supplier performance.
Day to day tasks will include:
• Responsible for procurement of production materials and services to support our Client´s manufacturing requirements.
• Issuance of Requests for Quotation (RFQ)
• Conducting cost and price analysis, making supplier selection recommendations, award of new business, conducting market analysis of assigned commodity items, preparation of purchase order and business award documentation, conducting negotiations, developing cost reductions strategies, and act as the focal point for efforts aimed in maintaining acceptable levels of quality, delivery, and customer service.
• Responsible for leading and/or supporting efforts to minimize supply chain disruptions or line down situations.
• Participation and/or leadership in cross-functional teams involved in New Product Programs (NPP), engineering changes, quality, packaging, transportation, logistics as well as other functions. Work with Design Cost Reduction Management Team in workshop to find ways for cost efficiency.

In order to be successful in this role then you will need to have the following characteristics:
• 5+ years of relevant experience in Purchasing or Supply Chain operations in engineering, production and process techniques such as lean and continuous development
• Min. BC degree in technical or economical field
• Knowledge of pricing structures and experience purchasing from electronic contract manufactureers.
• Expresses self clearly both in writing and in speaking
• Strong logical, objective, analytical and problem solving skills
• Takes initiative to develop trusting relationships with teammates
• Ability to read engineering drawings
• Good computer and software skills
• Good negotiating skills
• Ability to manage multiple tasks on tight time-tables
• Fluent English and Czech
• Advantage is fluent Spanish (cooperation with Mexico site)
• Willingness to travel (aprox. once a month)
