Job description, responsibilities and duties

PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES

Reporting to the Regional Tax Manager, the Tax Specialist will be part of the CEE Tax Team and as such responsible for the coordination and execution of tax matters of the SAP companies in Czech Republic and further countries e.g. Slovakia. He/She will be primarily responsible for the following areas of taxation, including, but not limited:
• Tax compliance (e.g. direct, indirect tax, withholding tax)
• Tax accounting
• Transfer pricing
• Tax audit and tax litigation

for the respective companies and will work closely together with the local tax manager (LTM) responsible for the region Central Eastern Europe (CEE). He/She will support the local tax manager on tax related topics and ensure tax compliance for each specific legal entity in the respective countries.



EXPECTATIONS AND TASKS

• Ensure that the legal entities meet fill internal and external compliance requirements.
• Manage, in cooperation with LTM responsible for CEE, relationship to external advisors and independent auditors, in particular coordinating and managing tax matters handled by such external advisors in the area of (i) tax compliance e.g. corporate income tax (CIT) and value-added tax (VAT) including monthly/quarterly/annually returns, (ii) tax accounting, (iii) transfer pricing, (iv) tax audit and tax litigation.
• File VAT returns incl. supporting documentation; prepare control statements.
• Prepare WHT returns and reports and monitor the WHT process including obtaining of required certificates.
• Manage exchange of data and other relevant information (e.g. General Ledger, VAT reports, data on permanent / timing differences, info on payments for WHT, etc.) to external advisors.
• Coordinate the respective tax postings (CIT, VAT, WHT, etc.).
• Ensure in cooperation with external advisors and LTM appropriate tax accounting according to IFRS for subsidiaries under responsibility.
• Provide support for the legal entities of responsibility in tax audits in cooperation with an external service provider where applicable.
• Assist with communication and negotiations with government authorities relating to tax matters in respect to the relevant subsidiaries in coordination with LTM.
• Provide support on tax risks (including accounting for uncertain tax positions) for the subsidiaries under his/her responsibility.
• Ensure compliance with group wide Transfer Pricing Policy in cooperation with LTM and the external service provider where applicable. Support LTM in transfer pricing documentation and prepare the tax-relevant transfer pricing reports.
• Manage and ensure proper implementation of tax law changes (e.g. CIT, VAT, etc.).
• Assist with dealing with challenging tax queries in the business of the legal entities of responsibility.
• Assist in managing the effective tax rate of the legal entities of responsibility.
• Establish pro-actively a collaboration model and routine with the corresponding local chief accountant (LCA) and Finance & Administration Manager. Manage relationship with Global Finance Shared Services (GFSS), Corporate Financial Reporting (CFR), other internal service providers or global functions and external service providers.

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS / WORK EXPERIENCE

• Education in Tax, Finance or Accounting. A CPA, qualified Tax Advisor or similar certification with focus on taxation is favorable.
• 3 to 5 years working experience in tax consulting and/or tax function or accounting function.


SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

• Willingness to get an understanding of tax accounting according to IFRS.
• Willingness to further develop experience in tax incentive planning and management of effective tax rates.
• Strong pro-active project management skills as well as innovative “solution seeker” rather than a “problem definer”.
• Ability to work independently and under time pressure.
• Ability to work in an international environment, working with colleagues abroad in virtual teams.
• Ability to anticipate and manage change.
• Team player with good interpersonal and communication skills.
• Fluent in English.
• Good knowledge of SAP-ERP System.
• Good knowledge of finance organization and organizational infrastructure of SAP.
