Job description, responsibilities and duties
Strategic responsibilities
* Be a champion for Quality Assurance organization and the SolarWinds model
* Responsible along with the QA managers on determining the overall global quality assurance strategy and processes
* Collaborate and take responsibility on defining the overall Quality Assurance team structure
* Support a global, location neutral quality organization that support the company’s business objectives
Operational responsibilities
* Responsible for the efficient execution of the overall QA strategy across products
* Enable cross team and cross site communication between the product teams
* Foster inter-team collaboration on feature development
* Ensures that product teams are adhering to engineering best-practices and internal processes
* Identify areas for testing improvements
* Work with upper management to ensure test activities and resource allocation are aligned with the business priorities and product roadmap
* Takes ownership for new site development, which includes acquisitions as well as organic growth
* Responsible for lab equipment purchases, including hardware and software
* Assesses and highlights team travel and training needs
* Manages product teams to deliver high-quality, technically sound products on schedule
* Monitors the support case load for managed products and watches for problems that are affecting the sales team
* Searches for and identifies problems affecting Engineering, proactively assumes ownership, and drives to resolution
* Identify and lead process improvements that improve team efficiency and effectiveness
People management responsibilities
* Delegates to, supervises, motivates, mentors and grows Leads and QA Managers
* Drives performance reviews of QA Managers
* Manages & drives interviewing & recruitment of Quality Assurance staff
* Technical and personal development of the test teams
* Coordinating & planning the technical training for the test teams
* Monitor new employee training
* Proposes salary adjustments and promotions for managed employees
* Highlights resource needs for managed products
* Able to manage geographically dispersed teams
* Creates retention strategies and succession plans for key personnel
* Participate in recruiting and interviewing up to QA Manager candidates

* Experience with agile development process (SCRUM) and Software Development Life Cycle
* Experience with collecting, data mining and evaluating test metrics (QA efficiency, product quality assessment)
* Experience with successful implementation of process improvements
