Product Owner

We are looking for a person who would share our passion for engineering best-in-class software products that help IT professionals all over the world to solve the most important problems that have today while enjoying simplicity of our products.

Product owner in SolarWinds creates and maintains the product backlog as well as works with the development teams on finding the optimal way to meet the business goals. To achieve that, he or she also collaborates with all stakeholders such as Product Management, Marketing, Sales Engineering and Support. A strong technical background combined with business oriented thinking, leadership skills and a demonstrated history of "getting things done" is essential to succeed in that challenging and exciting role.

What would you be responsible for in this role?

* Translating the Product Manager's business requirements into a product specific user stories for the Engineering team
* Working with Product Management and the Engineering team to determine scope and schedule for releases
* Creating and maintaining the product backlog to ensure that stories are prioritized correctly, and that the team is on track to meet their milestone dates
* Inspecting the product progress on regular basis (several times a week) and has complete authority to accept or reject work done (evaluating finished stories vs acceptance criteria)
* Eliminating the complexity found in traditional enterprise software – making it easier to find, buy, deploy and maintain.
* Ensuring that the Engineering team is providing timely assistance to the Support and Sales organizations
* Collaborating with the Architecture team to create a viable long-term technical direction for the product

What is required for this position?

* Experience with Scrum or any other agile methodologies, especially in a Product Owner
* Experience with IT technologies (Networking, Virtualization, Systems Management, Storage)
* Track record of multiple delivered commercial projects in the role of product owner, or project manager
* Excellent communication, leadership and problem-solving skills

What are some desired (not required) skills?

* Experience working with remote engineering teams
* Programming background is a plus
