Finance Operations (FinOps) is one of the largest captive Business Service organizations on Earth. We deliver finance technology solutions, corporate facilities, procurement services and transactional finance to Amazon. We are international, spreading across 28 countries in the Americas, Asia, Europe, and the Middle East.

Amazon seeks a Senior Finance Manager - VAT (m/f) to be the global single threaded leader for VAT across Finance Operations Accounting and Analysis (FOAA) out of Bratislava. This role will partner closely with senior members of Finance Operations, Accounting, Tax and various technology teams on a global level. This is an exciting opportunity to support business-critical VAT compliance projects and their implementation in Finance Operations processes across Amazon businesses.


In addition, you will drive international initiatives to improve the quality of the VAT general ledger account reconciliations. Your expertise of VAT regulations and the impact to the accounts payable and receivable processes will provide important intelligence to safeguard financial statements and enable scalable new business launches. You will provide VAT accounting consultancy and operate with a high degree of empowerment to make independent decisions.

Key Responsibilities:
This is a new role to support various Amazon business teams as well as liaise with internal business partners, which includes:


- Delivering VAT-related accounting projects and safekeeping of VAT regulatory compliance. Translate VAT regulations into requirements for Finance Operations processes and systems. Your focus will be on global VAT regulations and accounts payable / receivable processes. Support and influence internal decision making with the goal to strengthen VAT collection and payment processes.
- Driving improvements of the global VAT reconciliations across businesses including input and output VAT. Liaison with VAT controlership, Accounting, Finance Operations, and technology teams with the goal to assure the VAT compliance of the financial statements.
- Promoting VAT awareness, including knowledge sharing and training with respect to VAT rules, policies and procedures, within Finance Operations.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
Qualifications and skills
- Degree in finance, tax, accounting, or related fields with specialization in VAT.
- 10+ years of experience in a VAT compliance/advisory role in a multinational and/or professional organization paired with strong accounting background.
- Practical approach to VAT with a sound understanding of procure to pay and sales processes.
- Independent and entrepreneurial attitude showing the ability to work with minimal direction.
- The ability to demonstrate ownership, initiate and implement change with a problem solving approach.
- Strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills. Strong presentation skills and the ability to guide and influence senior leadership.
- The ability to earn trust with people at all levels within an organization and challenge the “status quo”.
- Proven ability to deliver results in highly complex and ambiguous working environment.
- Experience working with service center support teams and matrix organizations.
