Junior Software Engineer

Placense is seeking a strong Software Engineer for joining a team of highly talented R&D professionals, who help businesses understand the connection between people’s behavior and physical locations, by turning big data from mobile apps into aggregated and anonymized insights. We apply proprietary machine learning techniques for predicting the quantity and quality of people visiting a given location at a given time. These include metrics such as visit frequencies, visit duration, customer journey paths, customer distribution to gender, age, income levels, modes of transport, and other related socio-demographic characteristics.

As a Software Engineer, you will take part in the company's research and development activities, aimed to build one of the most advanced location intelligence platforms.

Responsibilities
- Communicate with various stake holders across the company, gather and translate business requirements to engineering related activities and processes.
- Master the company’s big data environment and the value it provides to customers, and further grow our data assets in a flexible, secure and scalable fashion, with high performance.
- Perform design and development tasks of both the back end and front end, for growing our offering and platform.
- Apply test driven development for assuring qualitative though agile development process.

Requirements
- First degree in Computer Science/Statistics/Mathematics or related field from known university.
- 2+ years of experience in designing and developing Java enterprise platforms, including Spring boot, Spring MVC, and Spring cloud. Good understanding of big data architectures and technologies.
- 1+ years of experience in designing and developing modern web technologies such as AngularJS or React.
- 1+ years of experience in cloud computing, preferred Google Cloud Platform.
- Good understanding of different micro services principles, patterns, anti-patterns and best practices.
- Experience in containerization and container orchestration tools like OpenShift or Kubernetes.
- Strong analytical abilities and exceptional problem-solving skills.
- Excellent English communication skills – spoken and written.
- Self-starter, fast learner, team player and can-do attitude.
