Job description, responsibilities and duties

The Vehicle Development Engineer contributes to the overall success of the organization by defining, operating and testing the experimental vehicles and systems which are used to develop the AeroMobil into a safe, satisfying and successful product.

Performing a wide range of duties including some or all of the following:
• Taking full responsibility for the preparation, monitoring, analysis and reporting of assigned vehicle or subsystem testing activity.
• Supporting the assembly of prototype vehicles, subsystems and test fixtures by the Vehicle Development workshop, ensuring that their specification is defined and delivered exactly as required to perform the demanded testing activity.
• Preparing plans and budgets for individual testing activities, or all testing activities of a specified type.
• Developing test procedures, and interpreting external test specifications for their application to the AeroMobil.
• Working closely with relevant internal engineers and external partners to efficiently develop the AeroMobil to satisfy certification, customer and internal requirements.
• Working closely with relevant internal engineers and external partners to resolve engineering issues.
• Reporting promptly and clearly any technical issues encountered, and working collaboratively to find temporary and long-term solutions.
• Taking temporary responsibility for the well-being and motivation of small teams possibly comprising AeroMobil and external engineers, technicians and test pilots/drivers, while testing in remote locations.
• Travelling worldwide as required to support AeroMobil experimental vehicles and subsystems under test.
• Developing links with key suppliers and partners.
• Maintaining robust and high quality documentation in line with defined processes.

Information about the selection process

The Vehicle Development Engineer shall:
• Work primarily in an office environment but should expect to spend a great deal of time in workshops and test locations.
• Work a standard working week, but some flexibility in working hours will be expected.
• Be prepared to take up a permanent full-time work in the AeroMobil HQ in Bratislava.
• Be expected to travel to partner facilities or test locations for periods no longer than 1 continuous calendar month.

Personality requirements and skills

The Vehicle Development Engineer should demonstrate some or all of the following:
• Good fundamental understanding and application of engineering theory.
• Specific experience in the testing and development of one or more mechanical vehicle systems, or more general test and development experience.
• Experience of testing and development activities as a complete vehicle (automotive or flight testing) would be considered an advantage.
• A good understanding of sensors, data acquisition systems, data interpretation and analysis.
• Understanding of vehicle electrical, electronic, network communications and diagnostic systems would be an advantage.
• The ability to communicate clearly and confidently in spoken English, and the ability to read and write complex technical documents in written English.
