DESCRIPTION
Manager, VAT planning
Amazon operates in a number of European countries and has a great opportunity for a dynamic and experienced person to work within the EU VAT advisory team on current and future projects and advisory work for the growing EMEA business, with a focus on the Amazon Business. This manager role will involve liaison with internal and external business partners, as well as colleagues from the various operating companies across EMEA and working with the EMEA and global tax teams to continue to drive strategy and best practice across the groups companies and promote VAT awareness.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

· Working with the existing VAT advisory team to provide VAT support and advice for Amazon Business and associated support teams working on specific internal project implementations and improvements
· Liaison with external third parties, including tax advisors and tax authorities relating to the Amazon Business
· Working with VAT Compliance and Controllership and Direct Tax to ensure continued compliance and commercial alignment based on contractual arrangements, including new business initiatives
· Promote VAT awareness in the operating companies including knowledge sharing and strategic perspective, liaising with the various business units regarding changes to existing systems, policies and procedures.
· Analysis and support with implementation of VAT legislative changes across the EMEA

Skills

· Practical approach to VAT with a sound understanding of legislation and technical issues.
· Capacity to quickly understand and digest complex business arrangements.

Experience
· Ideally 10+ years of experience in a VAT advisory role in a multinational and/or professional organization.
· Practical experience of VAT and indirect tax more generally, including team leadership and strategic developments.
· Cross border and global supply chain VAT experience.
· In-house VAT experience is an advantage.
