Job Description

Are you experienced within embedded functional safety engineering, procedures and methods? And do you find it appealing to work in an agile and innovative setting where all disciplines are gathered in one place? Then you are the new Functional Safety Engineer we are looking for in Danfoss Power Solutions. You will become the fourth colleague and a key member of our dedicated and experienced Functional Safety team. The team is responsible for multiple IEC 61508, SIL2 and SIL3 certified actuators, sensors and sub-systems.

You will become a key player in developing safety-critical Electro Hydraulic Steer-by-wire solutions for the off-road construction market and future state-of-the-art autonomous precision farming equipment. This will happen in co-operation with international OEM’s, external certification authorities and global project participants, hence solid communication skills, integrity and technical competences are essential.

General engineering activities and cross-functional project participation
As our new Functional Safety Engineer, you will participate hands-on with FS design and analysis with one primary product development team.

Together with the core Functional Safety team, you will also work cross-functionally with optimisation of our procedures, methods, tools, simulation and perform relevant technology investigations.

Your experience with efficient and structured S-FMEA, FTA and HARA will ensure that our products timely meets the high expectations of our off-road customers.

Key responsibility areas will be to:
  • Write and review product safety requirements and characteristics
  • Ensure requirements traceability, completeness and coverage and plan improvements
  • Lead, support and maintain the system and design FMEA methodologies
  • Develop safety concepts and drive them through external authority approval
  • Perform system validation by review
  • Support project managers in planning of FS activities and process conformance
  • Participate in weekly change control board meetings and daily impact analysis
  • Assisting customers with functional safety and interface specifications
Main cross-project tasks will be to:
  • Train and transfer knowledge between project teams
  • Support and ensure alignment of functional safety best practices between projects
  • Continuous study of legislation and standard updates
Engineer with solid experience in functional safety
You have a degree within industrial, electromechanical or mechanical engineering topped with solid experience in functional safety. Preferably, you have work experience from a similar position within the automotive, rail, aero or medical industry. Most essential is that you have experience with either IEC 61508, ISO 25119, ISO 26262 or DO-178B.

Furthermore, you have a thorough knowledge and experience as a developer in at least one of the fields of electronics, embedded SW or system control strategy and a good awareness of the others.

It will be an advantage, if you have experience with Product Development Life Cycle, Software Quality Assurance and relevant processes such as SPICE, CMMI or TS 16949: IAFT.

As a person, you are self-motivated with a proactive safety culture mind-set. You have a strong ability to pay attention to details without losing sight of the overall goals, objectives and product/technology constraints. Your solutions/ideas are known for their realisation of effectiveness, and you excel at simplifying difficult and complex issues. You have a convincing nature and believe your influence makes a significant difference. You have good communication and collaboration skills that enables you to build positive and trustworthy relationships, both internally and externally. You are an excellent communicator in English (verbally and in writing) with an interest in working across the entire organisation.
