Job description, responsibilities and duties

General description
Senior technical expert responsible for overall architecture, design and implementation of network management services and technologies provided by network management platforms (mainly cNMS) with focus on infrastructure services and operating systems.

Key accountabilities
• Design, develop, test, implement and support cNMS infrastructure components and applications in order to deliver standard cNMS product portfolio.
• Consult and implement new innovative technologies to satisfy cNMS innovation strategy (cNMS roadmap).
• Provide overall solutions and principles in planning, developing, implementing and integrating new products to satisfy cNMS business requirements.
• Design, develop, implement and integrate architecture of services based on cNMS platform requirements.
• Update and maintain cNMS product portfolio.
• Build and develop concepts, processes and methods for automation, optimization and standardization to satisfy cNMS efficiency and automation requirements.
• Provide advice or information at request or at own initiative to all relevant employees or customers regarding technical aspects of cNMS products.
• Provide project deliverables in order to fulfill the project scope.
• Provide consulting services on network management and areas of expertise to project teams.
• Manage and organize the transfer of new applications in order to efficiently and effectively fulfill project deliverables.
• Mentor team members to spread knowledge level in the team and develop their skills.
• Act as key technical lead to solve and coordinate activities across related technologies/outside own team.
• Research development in assigned technology, determine business requirements, propose changes and develop implementation plans.
• Act as "Application Manager" in CAPE-TS for specific cNMS products.
• Create solution concepts for network management platforms (e.g. cNMS, VAS, CCM) and other system environments.
• Develop system architectures with strong focus on network management technologies based on compliance guidelines for IRON process with NOR, PSA, ADV and SDSK specifications.
• Pursue active participation with strategic vendors to follow and influence the vendor roadmap to align with cNMS roadmap.
• Plan for patch and release management based on vendor roadmap.
• Implement or control software development or adaptation of development projects in the network management problem domain.
• Review, update and be responsible for documentation and acceptance tests in various network management platforms and assume responsibility for system operation.
• Create tasks, data sheets, specifications, system and operational documentation related to owned solutions.
• Technically control or support migration projects related to network management platforms.

Personality requirements and skills

Experience:
• Administrative experience on Unix/Linux/MS Windows systems - 5 years
• Proven experience in software development - 3 years

Certifications:
• Any certification in network, network management or operating system area is an advantage
• RHCE+ or equivalent
• CCNP+ or equivalent

Skills:
• ITIL knowledge related to operational processes
• Telecommunication services focusing on network management systems and network infrastructure components like Alcatel, Aruba, Cisco, InfoBlox, Juniper, Microsoft, Oracle, Red Hat, …
• General awareness about latest development and trends in networking and network management area
• Basic understanding with focus on network management SD-WAN solutions from Cisco (ACI/APIC, Meraki), Velocloud, Juniper, Silverpeak, Aryaka, ...
• Extensive knowledge of network management products (Broadcom DX NetOps (Spectrum, Performance Manager, VNA, OI)) and related portfolio and processes
• Experience in IT architecture with focus on network management requirements
• Experience in Linux OS administration and engineering area (preferably based on RHEL-alike distributions)
• Experience in IaaS platforms, preferably in VMware VSphere
• Experience with unattended VM provisioning (preferably Kickstart, images)
• Experience with provisioning and software lifecycle management tools such as Red Hat Satellite, SpaceWalk is a plus.
• Basic experience in VMware software-defined networking technology (DVS and VxLAN in general)
• Basic experience in VMware software-defined storage (VSAN)
• Experience with database handling (MariaDB, Oracle, MySQL), cluster setup, replication, backup
• Experience with central syslog handling (forwarding, storing, filtering, visualization, RBAC)
• Experience with certificate handling (creating, signing, distributing, revoking certificates, CA management)
• Network management, monitoring and event management systems, SNMP, ICMP, syslog, REST, CLI, XML, Netflow, NTP, DNS, LDAP
• Telecommunication service experience in particular IP networks (routers, switches, FWs, call managers) as well as well-founded TCP / IP and SNMP knowledge
• Good knowledge of PERL, shell scripting, Unix, Linux, Microsoft Server, Active Directory, Citrix
• Project management / subproject control
• Highly distinctive conceptual skills and solution-oriented approach
• High flexibility, teamwork and enforceability
