Job description, responsibilities and duties

Our client, an American legal services firm is searching for an experienced Human Resources Professional who can run the day to day operations of their small Human Resources group. As part of this role, you’ll manage their HR systems, assist with hiring initiatives, and support a team of lawyers and privacy consultants in training and professional development. This is a full-time, remote position.

They consists of a mostly remote team, (people based in the US, South Africa, Europe and Asia) but collaborate closely ( i.e. , you won’t feel like you’re working in isolation) and you’ll absorb knowledge from experienced attorneys and consultants.

The successful candidate will also directly support the day-to-day initiatives and long-term strategies of the company president.


Snapshot of the Responsibilities of the Human Resources Team Member:

● Execute on and expand the companies recruiting process
● Conduct screening interviews of new candidates
● Find new ways to recruit top talent
● Build major, complex business processes/procedures to meet the growing human resources needs of our organization
● Document HR business processes
● Proactively improve HR business processes
● Help manage benefits, vacation time, sick leave, etc. across a variety of jurisdictions ( e.g. US, Europe, South Africa).
● Maintain our HR records/information system
● Help manage performance review process and manage execution of our disciplinary action procedure
● Ensure the company is aware of and compliant with applicable HR rules and regulations
● Help determine and communicate each team member’s management style
○ Advocate for team members vis-a-vis managers, to help ensure that each team member is managed in a way that’s appropriate and tailored for that team member.
● Find ways to improve our team culture
● Plan and coordinate company meet-ups / retreats
● Support our Administration Department (and Internal Audit / QC function) as needed
○ Help ensure process compliance among staff members
● Perform occasional executive assistant duties
● Create and lead training on company procedures and policies

What we need from you:

● Demonstrated experience with HR systems and processes
● Ideally demonstrated experience creating or implementing HR systems and processes in a start-up or other small firm environment.
● Highly detail-oriented; highly organized
● Great people skills
● Willingness to suggest new ideas and process improvements, and to take initiative to drive projects to completion
● Fluent English speaking, reading, and writing capabilities
● Be a team player; interested in contributing to a growing enterprise
● Schedule flexibility to work with international teams and meet aggressive deadlines
● Must be able to perform successfully in a fast-paced, intellectually intense, service-oriented environment.
