The Role

We are looking for an expert in data management and access systems to help us to evolve towards a more ‘data-centric’ approach for the delivery of data services to users. You will design, develop and maintain our big data architectures, systems and data services, ensuring that we able to exploit and manipulate our meteorological information to enhance the services that we provide, now and in the future. When analysing our user requirements, you will research and explore innovations in the industry, proposing concepts and solutions that match our assets. Using your technical expertise, you will specify, design and manage the testing and implementation of any new technologies in line with the evolving needs of our customers and users, identifying opportunities to streamline data services and the way we supply them to others.

Requirements for the employee

Candidates with education suit the position

Secondary with school-leaving examination
University education (Bachelor's degree)
University education (Master's degree)

Language skills

English - Upper intermediate (B2)

Personality requirements and skills

You must have a background in designing and evolving big data management and data access systems in a high availability, operational environment. You understand the implementation and management of big data architectures, using appropriate and effective industry technologies. Our data processing systems are complex, so you will need to be able to use your analytical and planning skills, often working independently in a matrix environment, balancing your priorities and resources with your sound organisational abilities. You must enjoy working in a team and be able to communicate complex information effectively. Experience of service-orientated system engineering, cloud computing or server-less architectures would be an advantage along with experience of managing industry contracts.
