Your Role
You will create and lead a Big Data & Analytics Engineering team in Prague, which will operate as part of a global product delivery organisation (totalling approx 35).
You will also act as the local lead and line manager of the whole Compliance Technology team in Prague (approx. 30 people)


The main responsibilities will be:
• To recruit and line manage a team of Big Data & Analytics engineers in Prague, creating and evolving a highly effective and quality-oriented delivery team.
• To develop the skills of the team to be able to perform (initially) Hadoop-based engineering work to evolve the capabilities of the platform, moving into Analytics / Machine Learning development work to address specific business use cases based on the accumulated data.
• To operate as an Agile team lead (e.g. SCRUM Master) for the delivery of software by the team, working closely with the Product Owner (London based) and the broader delivery function (India based).
• Learning and navigating the internal Barclays processes for controlling, governing and managing the release of software to the various environments, using the preferred tooling for work management and documentation (AgileCentral and Confluence), and embracing the use of DevOps tools and techniques.
• Ensuring a robust contribution from the Prague team to the overall platform Architecture and the lower-level design of the solution components.

To be successful in this role, you will have to:
• provide a focal point for Compliance Technology in Prague, supporting the build out of the broader team (initially to approx. 30 people) and providing overall line management for that team.
• be able to work with senior Technology stakeholders to influence their decision making around product choices and Architecture / Design
• be able to work with senior stakeholders within the Financial Crime function, to understand and challenge Business Requirements, and to communicate progress, designs, risks and issues in non-Technical language.
• be able to demonstrate excellent communication (verbal and written), have strong organization skills and be able to liaise at all levels of the organization.
• be able to drive innovation collaboratively and with demonstrated business purpose.



Essential Skills
• 10+ years experience in managing or leading software development teams, with an emphasis on Agile delivery techniques including DevOps
• 10+ years of line management experience
• 5+ years experience working with Data Warehousing, Big Data or Analytics technologies
• Must have a bachelors degree or equivalent work experience
