Job description, responsibilities and duties

As a Senior Accountant, you will help to make sure that accounting records are accurate and policies and procedures are fully followed. You will reports to the Assistant Director of Finance.

Specifically Senior Accountant performs the following tasks:
• Ensures that accurate bookkeeping is administered and that revenue and costs are booked in the correct time period
• Ensures that accruals and provisions are booked accordingly and individual amounts are properly supported
• Ensures that interhotel accounts are properly reconciled
• Ensures that over & short, rebate book, cash sales clearance, guest ledger and restaurant guest ledger are reconciled accordingly by the Night Auditors and appropriate action has been taken in timely manner
• Is responsible for bank booking and bank reconciliation, for petty cash expenditure reconciliation
• Is responsible for reconciliation and checking of accounts before month end closing
• Is responsible for VAT books preparation and submission to tax authorities
• Ensures compliance with the local statutory and fiscal requirements
• Provides reliable financial data from which the operational management can make commercial decisions
• Having access to all financial figures and facts of the operation, visits any department to ask questions and makes any study required in the fulfilment of his/her duties
• Is in charge of archiving process sets up handling procedures
• Is familiar with all duties and procedures of the other Team Members in the Accounting department
• Supervises the Team Members and helps them with problems and their daily work
• Assists in training and development and succession planning in the department
• Represents the finance function during the absence of the Assistant Finance Manager
• Applies financial, commercial and business input into the management of the hotel operation to ensure that optimum performance is achieved
• Comply with Hilton Worldwide policies and procedures
• Comply with all systems and procedures as laid down by the Director of Finance, GM and Hilton International
• Performs other tasks in addition of the ones stated, in a reasonable framework
It would be advantageous in this position for you to demonstrate the following capabilities and distinctions:
- Relevant degree, in Finance, Accounting or related business discipline, from an academic institution
- Full understanding of financial operating systems and procedures
- Solid inter-personal and communication skills
- Excellent analytical skills
- Knowledge of commercial business, especially as it relates to hotel management
