Job description, responsibilities and duties
BMI Group is the largest manufacturer of flat and pitched roof systems in Europe, as well as a leading producer of energy-efficient chimney, stove, and integrated ventilation solutions. With more than 150 years of experience, we are the market leader in Europe, with a significant presence in parts of Asia and South Africa too. BMI Group was established following the coming together of Braas Monier and Icopal operating with 11 000 people across 40 countries. We are now embarking on the journey of integrating these two businesses, establishing group functions, and designing and implementing best practice within our London Headquarters.
We are looking to further establish our regional team with a Factory Excellence Support Manager with key responsibilities in;
Implementation of BMIPS
Build full buy-in of local leadership teams at every step of the process by identifying and actively working to remove barriers to transformational change
Diagnose all plants within a BU in order to find potential areas for improvement of performance, quality and manufacturing costs (wages, raw material consumption, energy and maintenance cost),
Agree potential improvement with plant management and the RID
Moderate improvement workshops with clear defined outcome. Ensure that all improvement workshops are defined by a charter and documented.
Ensure and plan the full Factory Excellence Rollout within the dedicated BU/Region
Support plants with the implementation of agreed improvement projects (ISP)
Audit all plants within the dedicated BU/Region regarding the Factory Excellence development
Training
Training of all plant personnel in the use of lean tools in order to implement a sustainable culture for continuous improvement
Training and coaching of plant management and change agent during the diagnostics and transformation process, so that they can act as catalyzer
Design and update central training concepts and tools descriptions
Reporting
Support the implementation of target related measurement systems to track progress of performance improvements and adjust to the regional needs (KPI - and Improvement Project tracking)
Support the KPI reporting to track general Performance in Production and Logistics
Assure all relevant reporting to Regional Management (RID/Head of Production/ Director Business & Factory Excellence)
Creating synergies within BMI
Be aware of what is happening in the field of Lean in other BU’s
Design and communicate SOP’s (Standard Operating Procedures)
Describe and communicate present or newly defined Best Practices
Continuous Improvement
Support continuous improvement by assisting plant management team to set performance targets based on Benchmarking and Diagnostic Reports
Generate sustainable cost savings in all BMI given BU’s
Support all plants as a Key Account within a dedicated BU/Region with the introduction and implementation of the lean philosophy as defined in the BMI Production System (BMIPS) and assure sustainability (Lean Leadership & CI Basics & more).
Support also cross regional in case it is needed
Support relevant plants with realizing all potential savings defined and agreed in the ISP (Improvement Saving Plan) as a result of diagnosis and benchmarks
Coach and train change agents, plant management team, shift leader, maintenance people and shop floor personnel & logistics
Build a strong network within FE-team, quality, process engineering and within the group’s Industrial Community
Drive and support exchange of Best Practice and support definition and Implementation of SOP’s
Tracking and auditing of plant performance and assist in target setting
Continuously improve and build the BMI Production System
The key outcomes in the role
Realize potential savings on time as agreed with plant management and scheduled in the ISP
Improve overall Performance of the Plants
Enable plants to continuously improve their operational Performance
Design and publish new SOP’s
KPI Improvement (OEE, scrap, productivity, raw material consumption, energy consumption, cost of Complaints, Maintenance cost etc.)
Improvement Project implementation tracking by degree of implementation
New savings or improvement ideas being implemented on daily base (#Improvement cards/#Safety Cards).
Feedback from Country Manager and RID & GID and their satisfaction.
