Médecins Sans Frontières/Lékaři bez hranic (MSF) is an independent and international medical humanitarian organisation. In over 70 countries worldwide, we provide life-saving emergency relief, including epidemic control, war surgery, nutritional assistance and primary healthcare.

MSF offers impartial assistance, based on need alone, regardless of ethnic origin, gender, creed or political affiliation. To maintain its independence from political interference, MSF relies on donations from private individuals for the majority of its income. This private funding gives us the freedom to respond to the greatest needs as quickly and independently as possible.

MSF CZ’s mandate is to provide technical, medical, human resources, financial and communications support to field operations. A team of around 16 is based in Prague.

COMMUNICATIONS DEPARTMENT

Our dynamic Communications Department is made up of 4 members, supported by volunteers, with expertise in media, digital communication and publications.

Under the direct supervision of the Head of Communications, this position is responsible for ensuring appropriate planning, organization, and execution of MSF public events in the Czech Republic and Slovakia to build up and strengthen the image of the organization through engagement with the public during such events to enhance understanding and support of the organization’s principles and charters, as well as its humanitarian work.

Please note this position is part-time job (20 hours per week) under fixed-term contract for 1 year with possibility of extension.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITY:

Strategic Planning, Organizing, Management of Events and Campaigns
• Develop a strategy plan for agreed upon events and campaigns and ensure a smooth production of them, including panel discussions; film screenings; photo/art/traveling exhibitions, book launches and others;
• Lead and participate in the cross-departmental teams on specific event/campaign organization, when necessary, and to make sure those events/campaigns are organized in the framework of MSF’s strategy;
• Organize public events/campaigns to achieve the maximum awareness raising/participation results holistically with fundraising and field recruitment goals in mind;
• Ensure public events/campaigns are being well promoted to optimize publicity;
• Recruit, train and supervise event/campaign volunteers;
• Assess the risks and benefits to MSF’s public branding with external requests for event/campaign partnerships/presence; plan and coordinate the events, when necessary;
• Co-ordinate all elements of events/campaigns from speakers/hosts, audio-visual services, suppliers, developing outreach lists, invitations, petitions, marketing collateral, travel/accommodation and on-site management;
• Produce accurate, detailed, and actionable reporting and insights;
• Manage individual budgets of respective projects

Please note that this list is indicative of the key responsibilities of this role but is by no means exhaustive. MSF is an emergency organisation and a ‘Can do’ attitude and flexibility to take on other related tasks is essential.

REQUIREMENTS
• University graduate preferred;
• Relevant experience in the execution of public events and project coordination;
• Competence in working with advertising agency, design houses and contractors;
• Detail-oriented with strong multitasking and organizational skills;
• Sound knowledge in the necessary administrative procedures in the organization of public events;
• Fluency in both spoken and written Czech and English;
• Excellent team spirit and ability to act as team player;
• Sound negotiation and presentation skills;
• Ability to work independently;
• Creative;
• Ability to work under pressure and to respect deadlines;
• Strong interest in world affairs;
• Clear commitment to the aims and values of Médecins Sans Frontières.
