Senior Backend Engineer (Go & Distributed Systems)

We are looking for a highly skilled Senior Backend Engineer with expertise in Go (Golang) and PostgreSQL to design and develop a distributed system for edge devices using a microservices architecture. This role offers the opportunity to work on cutting-edge distributed computing solutions while leveraging cloud technologies and containerized deployments.

• System Architecture & Development: Design and build a distributed system for edge devices based on a microservices approach using Go and PostgreSQL.
• Software Development: Develop and maintain backend services using Go, following best practices for scalability, reliability, and maintainability.
• Containerization & Deployment: Utilize Docker for containerized deployment, ensuring seamless integration with cloud environments.
• Linux & Cloud Integration: Work in a Linux (Ubuntu) development environment, collaborating with cloud teams that manage deployment using Terraform (experience with Terraform is a plus but not required).
• Development Tools & Workflows: Use JetBrains development tools to streamline software development processes.
• Agile Development & Collaboration: Work in an agile team environment, actively communicating progress, challenges, and solutions.
• Support & Maintenance: Provide ongoing support and optimizations after the initial system development phase.

• Strong experience in Go (Golang) and PostgreSQL for backend development.
• Proven experience in designing and building distributed systems and microservices architectures.
• Hands-on experience with Docker and containerized deployments.
• Proficiency in Linux environments, particularly Ubuntu.
• Familiarity with cloud-based deployment principles (experience with Terraform is a plus but not mandatory).
• Experience working with JetBrains development tools is an advantage.
• Ability to work independently, solve complex problems, and collaborate effectively with an agile team.
• Strong communication skills and ability to document and share knowledge effectively.

• Flexible, remote-friendly role with an expected on-site presence at Science Park of Comenius University (Vedecký Park UK) at least once a week.
• Part-time or contract-based role, with an initial project duration of up to 6 months, followed by additional support and maintenance as needed.
