Software Engineer (Remote/Home Office)

We are seeking a fully remote software engineer to assist in development of our in-house data processing software, utilized by card issuers across the US. Our work encompasses multiple programming languages and technologies, with a particular focus on Linux. We're in search of a reliable and independent engineer who goes beyond the bare minimum, aiming for excellence. Join our modern, fully distributed team and collaborate with colleagues globally.

Key Responsibilities:

• Independently research and develop software solutions.
• Ensure thorough quality checks and reviews before delivery to the customer. Write automated tests for your code.
• Communicate with customer, understand his requirements and proactively suggest improvements.
• Fix bugs across the codebase. If you see something that can be improved Do It!
• Manage time effectively to meet project deadlines. Working in fully remote team gives you great flexibility and as a result you will have to be able to work independently, without constant supervision.
• Maintain clear and proactive communication within the team.
• Write clear technical documentation in English language. Diagrams (UML or otherwise) should not scare you.
• Organize and prioritize project tasks effectively.
  

Required Technical Skills:

• Proficiency in PHP, Ruby and some Bash scripting.
  
• You should be at home in Linux OS and know at least basics of its internals.
• TCP/IP, Linux IPC
• Knowledge of asymmetric cryptography and openssl library (we work with sensitive data a lot)
• Familiarity with version control using Git, and platforms like GitLab/GitHub.
• Experience with RESTful API design and integration.
• Proficient with Docker/Podman.
• Experience with Confluence, Jira, Teams, and other task tracking, ticketing and customer support tools.
  

Desirable Skills:

• Knowledge of HTML/CSS/JavaScript, and Python is a plus.
• Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases.
• prior EMV experience is a big plus
• GNU autotools, cmake, m4 is a plus
• Although we work 99% with Linux, Windows knowledge may come in handy
