Backend Software Engineer – PHP

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Backend Software Engineer (PHP) who will play a key role in the design, development, and scaling of Pinsight’s SaaS platform. This is a critical technical position with a strong influence on architecture, performance, and future system evolution.

You will work closely with the software development team based in Slovakia, product managers, and US-based stakeholders to deliver high-quality, scalable features across our entire platform.

​What You’ll Do

• Design, develop, test, and maintain scalable full-stack SaaS solutions

• Build and optimize complex backend systems in PHP (Symfony)

• Develop and maintain RESTful APIs

• Write and maintain automated tests using PHPUnit to ensure code quality and reliability

• Contribute to system architecture and technical design decisions

• Collaborate with product and engineering teams on requirements and implementation

• Improve performance, reliability, and security

• Maintain and improve DevOps processes, cloud infrastructure, and CI/CD

• Work with containerized environments (Docker, Nginx, Linux)

• Review code and promote best engineering practices

• Provide feedback on user stories and product specifications

• Communicate effectively with US-based colleagues during overlapping morning hours

  
  

Nice to have​

• Experience with Node.js

• Frontend experience with React, HTML5, CSS

• Cloud platforms: AWS or Azure

• Experience with mobile or web-based SaaS products

​What We’re Looking For

• 3+ years of professional software development experience

• Strong PHP backend expertise, ideally with Symfony

• Solid experience with MySQL

• Experience building RESTful web services

• Understanding of Linux-based environments

• Experience working in Agile / Scrum teams

• Proficiency with Git

• Strong English communication skills
