At Merck, we are looking for a Cybersecurity Engineer to be part of a global Cyber Security Engineering team.

Your role: Do you see vulnerabilities in applications and systems supporting business operations? We welcome your ideas and together our team will work to identify, test, and deploy cyber security platforms to stay ahead of existing, new, and merging threats. In this deeply technical and hands-on role, you will be a vital team member of the global security engineering team.

- You will research and develop new capabilities in cyber security platforms, tools, and techniques that enhance the defense and resilience of current and future cyber security systems.
- You will be working with state-of-the-art technology and tooling.
- You will be responsible for but not limited to maintaining and developing the security platform's architecture, configuration, resilience, and availability to the other cyber security teams.
- You will correlate available threat information and identify mitigations.
- You will partner with other engineers to develop, deploy and maintain cyber defense systems and verify and validates deployed defenses against evolving threats to cyber and cyber-physical systems.

Personality requirements and skills

- 1-2 years of relevant work experience, Bachelor's, Master's, or Ph.D. in computer science, computer engineering, software engineering, physics/math, or related discipline.
- Fluent in the English language.
- Recently completed coursework providing an understanding and application of standard principles, theories, concepts, and techniques in Cyber Security.
- Experience coding in Python and/or system administration background.
- Hands-on experience with SIEM or SOAR or DLP products is an advantage.
