We’re looking for a passionate, inquisitive and insightful Senior UX Researcher to join our multidisciplinary team.

As a researcher at the UK’s largest supermarket, you’ll be helping millions of people shop better. You’ll explore the how, why, and when of customer needs, helping shape and validate solutions that improve every stage of a customer’s shopping journey. You’ll weigh business goals with user expectations, generating research that helps solve both. And you’ll know how to fail fast, get back up, and try again.

Audiences don't get bigger or more diverse than this. So, you’ll really need to know your onions. That includes a big appetite for qualitative and quantitate research, customer interviews and in-depth data synthesis.

About the role

As Senior UX Researcher at Tesco, you will:

  • Lead UX research for a variety of work streams and high priority projects
  • Lead Tesco’s customer facing UX studies in Central Europe region
  • Generate / highlight research insights about Central Europe users for different design teams across Tesco
  • Execute qualitative and quantitative research throughout the design and development lifecycle, from early strategic direction through post-release validation
  • Provide research insights and recommendations, balancing business, and customer needs
  • Support project teams to define, influence, and drive the user experience vision
  • Support the UX research manager to identify and prioritise research needs, avoiding duplication and aligning best practice
  • Promote inclusive user research with a focus on accessibility
  • Collaborate with research operations to help manage external collaborators and the UX research budget
  • Work closely with the Product and Design teams to ensure research insights are incorporated and to establish successful processes and ways of working
  • Develop relationships across the business to collate existing data and insights to inform product strategy and areas of opportunity
  • Share research expertise and knowledge with others and encourage the wider team to actively participate in UX Research, to improve organisational capability and challenge team thinking
  • Use workshops as a key tool to leverage collaboration, cohesiveness and alignment on user needs for successful product development
  • Provide feedback to other designers and researchers to help strengthen your team and Tesco as a whole
  • Help your teammates build expertise, strong decision-making skills, and empathy for our customers
  • Embrace opportunities to line manage other researchers and help with their learning and development
  • Work with the UX Research and Design Manager to cultivate a positive, supportive, and inclusive team culture

About you

To get this role, you will need:

  • Expert-level knowledge in the field of UX research, with at least 5 years’ experience of working as a UX researcher on digital products
  • Ability to speak fluently Czech/Slovak and English
  • Considerable knowledge and demonstrable hands-on experience with a wide range of qualitative and quantitative research methods and techniques. This includes in-depth interviews, ethnography, contextual inquiry, journey mapping, surveys, competitor analysis.
  • Proven experience in evaluative research studies, such as usability testing both remotely and in person
  • A strong track record of research results impacting product strategy and development
  • Experience of working in an Agile product development environment and applying lean UX research methods
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills; the ability to communicate complex concepts clearly and persuasively across different audiences and varying levels of the organisation
  • The ability to collaborate with a wide set of stakeholders, including designers, UX writers, product managers, developers, and analysts
  • Experience of using and managing the use of online research tools, such as unmoderated remote testing and online surveys
  • The ability to manage relationships with external research agencies
  • Ability to travel across the Central Europe region for on-site studies
  • Experience of conducting research with people with disabilities is desirable

The job requires to be based in/close to Prague.
