ABOUT THE ROLE

As a Lead Technical Programme Manager you will lead a small team of internal and external colleagues, manage complex technology programmes. Alongside with Product and Engineering teams and in close cooperation with your business stakeholders you will play a key role in defining and delivery of technology strategy for People area in Central Europe.

You will be a key member and leader of the CE People Technology team, which is supporting Tesco people operations through defining overall technology roadmap for CE People area together with our Group Technology partners. We work as DevOps team - delivering and running the technology solutions – 3rd party or in-house developped products, which include both application layer as well as underlying infrastructure.

WHAT WOULD YOU DO?

As a Lead Technical Programme Manager in HR area you:

  • Work alongside with your business and technology partners to shape the technology strategy for your area
  • Lead small team of internal and external colleagues - Technical Programme managers/Project Managers. Facilitate and support the development of your team-members. Participate on recruitment process
  • Lead complex delivery of technology programmes that will impact the success of key Tesco business priorities as well as to ensure we run our technology in line with infrastructure, security and data compliancy standards
  • For dedicated programmes work collaboratively with engineering and product leads to ensure efficient support, management of major incidents and service improvements
  • Manage relationship with internal technology and business stakeholders
  • Build and maintain relationships with suppliers & external stakeholders to deliver software or professional services including relevant contractual support
  • Support vendor selection processes (tendering, agreeing SLAs, warranty periods, outsourcing)
  • Collaborate with the Product and Engineering teams to define annual budgetary requirements, maintain dedicated budget
  • Drive continuous improvement in team ways of working, explore opportunities to adopt trends and new concepts in programme delivery for your area
  • Provide advice and guidance on programme delivery (line management and mentoring other TPMs and supporting Engineering/Product teams)
  • Coach peers and other roles, teaching where required, on methodologies and programme management tools and coach/mentor on leadership, play active role in technology community

PREREQUISITES FOR THE ROLE

5+ years in a Technical Project/Programme Manager role and strong technical and product management, project delivery background

REQUIRED SKILLS

  • Proven record of accomplishment in delivering technology programmes, using traditional and agile methodologies
  • Strong leadership skills – excellent communication, influencing skills, prioritization, decision making
  • Ability to build credible relationships and influencing senior management & leadership teams
  • Strong vendor management and negotiation skills
  • Open-minded, independent and practical thinking. Enthusiastic and responsive person with the ability to plan and organize, team-player
  • Risk management
  • People management skills
  • Ownership and commitment towards assigned projects/programmes
  • Experience with software delivery in agile environments
  • Product management knowledge
  • Knowledge of Technology and Security standards
  • Awareness of Service Management principle, especially incident and problem management
  • Financial awareness
  • Fluent Czech/Slovak and English languages
  • Willingness to travel occasionally (across Europe)

ADVANTAGE WOULD BE

  • Retail Technology Awareness, HR system experience
  • Experience with work in international environment
  • Hungarian language
