ABOUT THE ROLE

The Project Manager manages IT programme in People (HR) stream with variety of technical disciplines including Product and Software Engineering and deliver challenging, complex, cross-functional technology projects and programmes that support our colleagues and help serve customers better.

This job requires to be based in/close to Prague. We currently work in a hybrid model and meet in our office 3 days a week.

WHAT WOULD YOU DO?

As a Project Manager in HR area you:

  • Be responsible for overall IT Programme / Project management of given Technology Product(s), End user facing.
  • Work with all involved stakeholders on daily basis (Tesco Central Europe HR department, Functional & Technical Analysts form your project team, Tesco Engineering and Product teams, Technology Vendors).
  • Deliver in short iterations, in small increments (Stories delivery, Scrum, or Kanban) or in Larger projects, using Traditional methodologies, combined with Agile delivery.
  • Create and track a plan to deliver the programme goals, including the technical implementation plan.
  • Master Product(s) backlog in JIRA, moderate backlog meetings, like grooming, prioritization, delivery onboarding.
  • Setup and manage stakeholder communication and lead mid-senior management governances
  • Manage project team resources and coordinate the development of Technology and business facing products by 3rd party vendors.
  • Define and track performance against customer and business KPIs
  • Manage budget for dedicated projects and programmes.
  • Manage Risks and Issues and influence multiple dependent teams.
  • Understand trade-offs in delivery, using experience and influencing skills to drive consensus with our Business, Technology and Engineering teams to obtain the best value and solution
  • For dedicated programmes and projects, work collaboratively with engineering and product team to ensure efficient support, management of major incidents and service improvements.
  • Moderate and be part of technical discussion between technology teams and vendors (infrastructure, security, development, …)
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with internal teams, stakeholders & suppliers.
  • Actively contribute to continuous improvement in team ways of working, explore opportunities to adopt trends and new concepts in project and programme delivery for your area
  • Coach peers and other roles, teaching where required, on methodologies and project/programme management tools and coach/mentor on leadership
  • Play active role in technology programme community

PREREQUISITES FOR THE ROLE

  • 3+ years in a Technical Project/Programme Manager role.
  • Technical or Product management background is highly beneficial as well as experience with HR area

REQUIRED SKILLS

  • Proven record of accomplishment in delivering technology programmes or projects, using agile based methodologies
  • Strong leadership skills – excellent communication, influencing skills, prioritization, decision making
  • Ability to build credible relationships and influencing senior management
  • Strong vendor management and negotiation skills
  • Open-minded, independent and practical thinking. Enthusiastic, and responsive person with the ability to plan and organize, team-player
  • Ability to demonstrate resilience during change and continue delivery
  • Experience with planning and risk management
  • Ownership and commitment towards assigned projects/programmes
  • Experience with Software delivery in agile environments, understanding of end-to-end development lifecycle
  • Able to understand and facilitate a technical architecture discussion to be able to foresee the impact on dependencies, delivery timelines and implementation plans
  • Have good knowledge of System, Software and Data engineering and implementations of best practices to appreciate delivery challenges
  • Good level of Technology and Security skills are beneficial (not a must for Front-end delivery experienced candidates with strong Project Management background)

o Understand technology concepts, grasp new ones quickly and appreciate their implications on delivery.
o Practical knowledge of System Engineering work (OS support – Win & Linux, Network, scripting, etc.)
o Experience implementing Cyber Security standards and principles
o Experience with addressing GDPR requirements and risks
o Experience with covering system resilience, disaster recovery, backup & restore, etc.

  • Awareness of Service Management principle, especially incident and problem management
  • Problem solving and good analytical skills

Financial awareness

  • Fluent Czech/Slovak and English languages
  • Willingness to travel occasionally (across Europe)

ADVANTAGE WOULD BE

  • Retail Technology Awareness, HR system experience
  • Good knowledge and practical experience with System/Network Engineering work
  • Experience with work in international environment
  • Hungarian language
