If you are passionate about technology and finance and you want to be part of a special team, this opportunity is for you.

ABOUT THE TEAM

We're a small, friendly team providing IT services to our Finance colleagues across Central Europe. We mainly handle stock accounting, invoice matching and financial reporting. Our work involves everything from integrating transactions and evaluating them to posting accounting records. In invoice matching, we deal with both paper and electronic processing, including EDI standards.

On the tech side, we mostly use Oracle databases and technologies like PLSQL, ProC, and APEX in our monolithic applications and are on an exciting journey to modernize with microservices and containerization. Our systems are mostly Linux-based.

This role is based in Prague, Czechia. We currently operate on a hybrid model, meeting in our office three days a week.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Deliver outstanding technical support to Finance business users for internally handled applications, participating in the on-call rota.
  • Provide functional support and solution orchestration for externally run applications.
  • Coordinate seamlessly between Finance business users and technical teams or vendors.
  • Serve as a technical authority in IT projects related to Finance applications.
  • Engage in small-scale development tasks and problem resolution within the Finance area.
  • Participate in system and application patching routines to ensure perfect operations.
  • Gather user feedback, assess opportunities for system or process enhancements, and implement improvements.
  • Continuously refine support processes and methods, improving the team's application knowledge base.
  • Adhere to and carry out Tesco's technology standards, identifying and addressing potential weaknesses.
  • Always act with integrity, diligence, and in compliance with our Business Code of Conduct.

OPERATIONAL SKILLS RELEVANT FOR THE ROLE

  • Proficient in agile methodology, DevOps principles, and the project lifecycle.
  • Strong understanding of Linux operating systems, with user-level experience in command-line operations.

  • Experienced in building queries for relational databases such as Oracle or Microsoft SQL.
  • Ability to write and understand simple functional scripts in programming languages like shell script or C.
  • Basic knowledge of finance and accounting terms (optional).

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Knowledgeable in Service Management principles, particularly incident and problem management.
  • Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with both end users and technical teams globally.
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English at a B2 level or higher.
  • Strong analytical thinking with a keen desire to learn and adapt to new skills.
