The resident engineer represents customer on-site at the host to ensure sure that the customer’s products meet the exact specifications of the contract, and that all work is accurately noted and reported. This includes interacting with various levels of host engineering and management to resolve issues and ensure flawless production. The resident engineer will apply advanced problem solving, engineering skills and knowledge to identify risks and create risk mitigation plans to resolve production and product quality deficiencies, support trouble shooting activities of quality issues during root cause analysis problem solving activity. The resident engineer will oversee production deliverables throughout the mission ensuring the product meets or exceeds host’s needs and expectations in order to decrease non-quality consequences, and maximise the satisfaction of OEM.

Osobnostné predpoklady a zručnosti

Core responsibilities:
1) Liaison
· Function as liaison, keeping lines of communication open between customer and host

· Immediate communication before complaint registered
· Work closely with customer & host quality management team (e.g. engineering, manufacturing, supplier quality, purchasing, program management, etc.) to spread/support host quality concern resolution
· Recognize and escalate quality issues appropriately within organization and according to severity
2) Incident management
· Visual analyse on NOK part (comparing OK part) or technical analyse (e.g. root cause analysis) on claimed part + NOK/OK part replacement
· Follow up/confirmation of customer quality condition, verify defect occurrence and ensure clear problem description is captured on document as well as the applicable standard per inspection standard and/or print specification
· Providing a standard incident report for the costumer including information about the fault, part traceability and quantities in stock or in transit
· One case validation (validation of the complaint request and its justification, avoiding invalid – unclear complaint, detailed report on actual case)
· Non-conformity management (problem detection, information collection, timely, accurate and relevant information transfer to the customer)
· Safety replacement stock management, coordination of courier shipments as needed
· Ensure in-time communication between customer and the host in case non-conformity is reported
3) Containment management
· Implement and manage containment measures (pre- sorting on demand, pre-rework on demand) in order to maintain FIFO
· On demand 100% quality control (sorting) + proactive sample sized inspection (AQL)
4) Advanced support activities
· General understanding of automotive quality tools
· Investigate quality issues at host site and facilitate communication between customer and host, regarding all matters of concern related to quality and shipping (KPI) utilizing applicable inspection standards
· Support corrective action development
· Employ advanced problem-solving expertise to correct unfavourable variances and communicate alternative measures to mitigate engineering, timing and/or financial issues
· Represent the "voice of the customer" at host and maintain / improve customer’s reputation. Representation of the customer (PPM management; 8D report presentation; attend on host quality meetings)
· On demand disassembly operations on non-conform products
· On demand start of the 8D process until D3
· Support the submission of the final 8D report presentation for the host, check effectiveness of the improvement
· Customer support for SOP activities / launch of new product or product change, APQP support (personal participation on trial runs, personal PPAP submission, change management support, immediate reaction in case of dissatisfaction)
· On demand regular visits / trainings to customers’ site(s) to continuously develop/improve understanding of parts and processes
5) Other support
· Knowledge of customer products: product specification, production processes flow, final inspection, occurred defects and boundary samples
· Knowledge of host (plant, structure, organization, logistics, information flow, processes, escalation matrix, decision making process, needs, requirements)
· Understand and use customer’s and host’s problem solving methods
· Return of a defective part to the customer for further analyse
· Use different methods to support quick decisions (first level functional test, limit sample comparison, laboratory analyses on demand, precision measurement on demand)
· Support best practice deployment
Education and / or experience:
· Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, applied engineering sciences, electrical engineering or equivalent
· 3 years automotive experience in quality, engineering or customer project teams
· High familiarity with Microsoft Project and Excel based database programs
· Minimum 1 year experience in a technical customer interface position (resident engineering or key contact person in functional engineering area)
· Exposure to / experience in project management, production and / or quality in the automotive industry
Preferred qualifications:
· Strong written and verbal communication skills in English language
· Experience with Asian or North American customer projects are a plus
· Intercultural experience or experience with international project teams
· Basic: 8D/ 5-Why/ Ishikawa Diagram/5S/
Language skills:
· Ability to read, analyse, and interpret the most complex technical documents in English
· Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints
· Ability to write reports using technical language
· Ability to negotiate in English
