A DAY IN LIFE
• Provide Indirect Tax compliance for specific VAT entities in EMEA jurisdictions and coordinate/liaise with Indirect Tax Organization.
• Ensure the provision of accurate and compliant VAT reporting services to both internal parties and external authorities.
• Perform controls over accurate and compliant reporting services provided by the team members
• Preparation of VAT returns, EC Purchase/Sales Listings, other VAT related reporting and Statistical returns.
• Review of VAT returns, EC Purchase/Sales Listings, other VAT related reporting and Statistical returns according to internal procedures.
• Resolution of exception items including; Correction of errors found, including any consequent GL postings.

• Preparation and processing of tax payments as well as full documentation of processes
• Ensure that all VAT reporting within remit is compliant with tax and accounting legislation
• Preparation of relevant balance sheet account reconciliations
• Review of relevant balance sheet account reconciliations according to internal procedures
• Support regularly other team members with technical VAT knowledge and overall finance/tax experience via daily guidance and internal trainings.
• Ensure service levels are delivered as per Key Performance Indicators
• Provide guidance to other departments on VAT related matters
• Facilitate continuous process improvement, support Lean initiatives and maintaining integrity of the systems.
• In accordance with legislation and in cooperation with Indirect Tax Organization and IT ensure proper software set-up.
• Any other duties that are within the scope, spirit or purpose of the role or as reasonably requested.
• Ensure that all working practices follow the Covidien standard policies and procedures, including health & safety and equal opportunities.

Requirements for the employee

Candidates with education suit the position

Secondary with school-leaving examination
University education (Bachelor's degree)

Language skills

English - Upper intermediate (B2)

Personality requirements and skills

MUST HAVES
• Proven VAT knowledge and experience
• Very good understanding of European VAT laws
• Experienced Microsoft Excel user
• Strong written and spoken English
• Excellent communication and planning skills
• Strong team player but also with the ability of working independently
• Demonstrates the ability to assist with the expertise to the others and supervise the VAT processes requiring VAT expertise
• Proactive approach
• Adaptable with an ability to change direction and priorities if required
• Achievement orientation: driven by goals and deadlines
• Conscientious, accurate, with attention to detail.

NICE TO HAVES
• Business/Finance/Tax Bachelor’s Degree, proven tax advisory or accountancy qualification / degree with be advantageous
• VAT technology experience is an additional asset
• Previous Shared Service Center experience
